Background

From an early age, David’s been passionate about design details commercially within the retail landscape, curation of the home and garden environment. Surrounded with creativity, he gained inspiration from a range of sources, including nature, galleries, museums, architecture and garden landscapes, confirming his love for considered design, textiles, effective use of colour and its impact on interior decoration.

After studying Art & Design at Chesterfield College, David graduated in Printed Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University, followed by Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art. His design career began working with Arthur Sanderson as a designer/colourist, developing colour, fabric, wallpaper design and paint collections for the Sanderson and Morris & Co brands. Progressing into retail development, David defined merchandise standards for exhibitions, concessions in the UK and Shanghai, focussing on the customer journey and what makes a house a home.

Prior to becoming a design consultant, David spent fourteen years as a Senior Presentation designer with John Lewis head office, London, developing ‘Home & Electrical’ merchandise standards, leading a presentation team within store design, working closely with buying and merchandising departments.
