Art Deco Apartment, Dolphin Square – Elegant Glam
Dolphin Square is a construction of 13 blocks or houses, completed in 1937, each named after an admiral or navigator, built around a beautiful garden square. The flats are located adjacent to the River Thames, Pimlico, Westminster, London and have been home to many famous people including politicians, peers and civil servants.
My client’s apartment overlooked the private manicured garden and faced north towards London Victoria from the double aspect sitting/dining room. The apartment required a general upgrade and redecoration to fulfil my client’s vision of a boutique style home that would suit his lifestyle and vision of the apartment.
To disguise the various ceiling heights, classic plaster coving was installed throughout the apartment, delivering continuity and an element of softness. Existing door archways were removed and replaced with dark oak lacquered fire doors, complying with building regulations. Interior finishes of chrome door handles, radiator covers, switches & sockets were specified to add a luxury feel.
Moodboards
To improve the bedroom circulation space, a pocket door was fitted between the bedroom and inner hallway, allowing privacy when required. Dark oak, bronze mirrored glass fitted bedroom furniture with internal lighting was designed to improve the feeling of space, providing the client with maximum storage.
The bathroom shower cubicle and marble wall tiles were maintained from the previous scheme, with the introduction of a new rectangular mirror, white vanity wash basin, quartz worktop and chrome accessories provided the necessary upgrade the bathroom required to align with the apartment.
The ambient lighting level at dusk, brings the apartment to life, showcasing the luxurious finishes, reflecting the client’s business history of lifestyle and travel.
